For my bestest…

A couple of weeks ago I was in Steamboat Springs, CO, where I’m from and where my dear friend Christina still lives.  I was jammed packed busy with photo sessions but it was utmost important to me that I *finally* get to take Christina’s family pictures.  It seems like every time I come come to town we run out of time.  Even though it was high noon and the botanical gardens are popular spot on Saturday afternoons….I think we accomplished our goal!  Here are just a few of my favorites of a family that is incredibly important to me and that I think the World of……

Christina, there are SO many other great ones.  I’m uploading your gallery right now.  Just please don’t call me at 6:00am – YOUR TIME :). Love you to pieces – thank you for being such an incredible friend and my biggest fan!

Newborn workshop pictures

A BIG thanks goes out to Julie Paisley of Julie Paisley Photography! None of these pictures would have been possible without her expertise, posing techniques, patience, and overall experience in working with newborns. I had the huge honor of having Julie come to my home last week to hold a newborn photography workshop. The babies were wonderful and the whole day was like a dream!  Another big thank you to the parents of the babies for letting us use their sweet newborns for models.

I’m excited to try out all that I learned on my upcoming newborn sessions. There is definitely a baby boom going on around here.

What I did last weekend…

Last weekend I had the honor to ‘second shoot’ for my dear friend and amazing photographer, Erin Hughes, at a wedding in Newport Beach.  It was  a lot of work but also tons of fun! This is the third wedding Erin and I have done together this year and I hope not the last.  We have a great working chemistry together – heck, we even showed up wearing the exact same outfit that matched perfectly with the wedding party (completely by fluke). Erin and I really have each others back and seem to communicate without even talking.  She’s not only someone that I highly admire professionally, but also someone that I’m lucky to call my friend!  If you haven’t already, please go check out her website!

Here is my first look at some of the pictures that caught my eye of  the MANY pictures I took!! Now, it’s time to edit, edit, and edit some more :).

Speachless

Yesterday I had the honor to capture this beautiful couple (both inside and out) awaiting the arrival of their son.  I left this session speechless, knowing that we got SO many amazing shots!  Here are a few my favorites from the first look….I’m sure there will be many more.

Ty & Marshal, yesterday was so much fun.  You did such a great job preparing for our session and it paid off!  Just wait until you see the rest of the pictures! I truly am speechless!!:)

10 minutes at 7pm with cloudy skies….

That’s all it took to get some cute shots to document this beautiful couple awaiting the arrival of their baby girl!

 

I recently posted on my Beyond Words Facebook page this:

‘If you have not had family pictures taken within the past 3 years, promise me right now that tomorrow morning, you will find someone to do it. I don’t care if it’s a neighbor, I don’t care if it’s a portrait studio, I don’t care if it’s a tripod and a remote. Just do it. We have no guarantees in life, but at least we can have the photos to prove that we were here, we were together, and we were happy!’ – Michele at Pinkle Toes Photography

I wasn’t going to originally post these pictures of our SUPER quick “session” – but this quote from Michele really struck a chord with me and I couldn’t agree more! It doesn’t take a lot of time, money, the perfect outfit, the weight loss, or whatever….to snap a few pictures that will be everlasting!! We took these pictures in Del Mar at 7pm on a cloudy and cold evening in literally 10 minutes.

…Homaira and Adam, I hope that these fun pictures from last weekend help you to remember this most special time in your lives!! I look so forward to a “Real” session with your sweet baby girl!!!

Thank you sooo much for the beautiful photos. We received so many compliments and I was glad we had a chance to capture this moment with just the two of us, before we are 3. Definitely looking forward to the real baby session when she’s here.
